i remember there is part in video where dev works on part of Gaul where you first encounter the cannon
gives the impression that there is light there
So... I get that the characters would need a real time light source, but why would the static scenery? 🤔
you mean why static meshes have light source?
they need it for the light to be baked later in level
when you build a level you bake lighting after each checkpoint to be able to get the right light effect
and i dont think back then systems could afford real time lights
the ps2 definitely couldnt
