Martyste Tendertail<@&398462751007047683> I just missed that yesterday ( March 13th ) was the **4th anniversary of Asterix XXL speedrunning!!** This was the day I originally uploaded the very first any% run of XXL, at a time of 2:25:15, on a laggy Gamecube emulator. It's been a long way, and we are far from being done with any%!
Martyste Tendertail:1_: :4_: :0_: members. We could technically become a company.
yarnfang@everyone Currently the ruleset of XXL any% does not state where where a run should and should not start from which is a problem. Thus I want a discussion from as many as possible who are involved with running and nodding the game in order to set this in stone. Currently there are 2 options that are being looked at but if any of you would come up with another good idea you're more than welcome to say so. The 2 current options are as follows. [**Option1**] We start from New Game at the main menu. This means that we start the game the same as anyone else would watching the intro and playing through the game fast fast as possible. Vanilla and pure. [**Option2**] We allow runners to setup a save file before hand in which you use cheats to gain access to the 1st druid in Gaul. This allows you to then load the start location in Gaul from the map and play the game without seeing the intro cutscene. The start location is slightly different though which saves at most half a second. Over all this is a battle of Comfort Vs Purity. I'd also like to add that there is no intention of removing times from the leader board no matter the outcome of the discussions and voting. I would hope to see you in the Speedrunning XXL channel and thank you for your time. 🙇
yarnfang<@&302463196525232129> The voting has now opened for XXL in the #.
yarnfangDone some basic cleanup on removing channels that had no reason to exist and also added a NSFW channel by the name of #. No porn though. And as there is a channel for that now I'd prefer it if things that you wouldn't want to be seen in public be kept in there.
yarnfangDid some reorganization of channels and such. Any ideas of things that can be put in a better place or removed. Say so in #user-feedback
yarnfangBecause GEEZE... Too many fucking channels.
yarnfangAdded a pinned message to the # channel listing all roles available and what they are. If anyone would like some changes to it or have any fun ways to theme the names of the different roles please say so in the #user-feedback channel :)
Nekin• If you're interested about Asterix & Obelix XXL races we would like you to answer a few questions and know if you have any suggestions with a little poll. <@&302463196525232129> https://forms.gle/SJrTy56hpMfhnWcx9
yarnfang@everyone we are looking to start some sort of art event and/or competition on a regular basis and would like to know who would be interested. If you are interested go into the #art-brawl channel listed under the Village Forge and state that you are interested and at which times you'd be able to participate. So far were thinking of giving the participants a theme in which they are to create something within a week of the theme being announced. If you're down and/or up for this let us know :)
yarnfangAll interested will be given a new tag that I have yet to figure out what to call...

yarnfang@everyone the Art-Brawl (name not final) is starting from now. Anyone who wish to enter and has yet to do so say so in the # channel. Same for anyone who has entered and wishes to exit. For the first one there is no theme or requirement, only rule is keep it Asterix themed. The submission dead line is intended to be a week from now ish. Any questions and or discussions should be directed towards the #art-brawl channel. Now get to it :)
Martyste Tendertail@everyone Happy 5th Anniversary of the community, my friends! On March 14th 2015, I uploaded the very first speedrun video of Asterix XXL, cementing the beginning of our long story. I'm looking into streaming some kind of marathon of Asterix games today, as well as revealing who won the art contest!
Martyste Tendertail@everyone I am saddened to learn that Albert Uderzo, co-creator of Astérix, passed away tonight from cardial arrest. May he find peace up there with his long awaiting friend, René Goscinny.
yarnfangThe #welcome-rules channel has been updated. If anyone finds something that doesn't seem right please do tell me :)
yarnfang@everyone **NOTICE** I intend to remove spam accounts in a day or a few. That includes all accounts that don't have any roles. If you for some reason happen to be one of these then make sure to get you some roles now.
yarnfangWellp, took me way longer to get to it but now every account without a role has been removed.
Nekin[OUTDATED] Microids is giving Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 for free by simply going to their website and completing a little form (Name / Surname / Email address), it says at the bottom of the page that they will not use your infos in the future for anything. You will receive a Steam key right after clicking on "Valider" Good luck on your journey! :TotalKappa: https://www.microids.com/fr/xxl3-tempo/
yarnfang__**Things are starting to move forwards**__ First of all we've managed to implement a role bot to handle general roles that anyone can give to themselves making things a lot more convenient for all. Though a few roles are still left to request only. A big "thank you!" to @baku who helped with setting it up. Next up we have had discussions on how to handle modding in the future, and upon request tried to figure out the best ways to harsher crack down on those who offend the rules. We have plans to re-write the rules to make it more clear what will and will not be tolerated. And now finally we'd like to introduce the new mod @Failentin. Though I must also mention that we're not quite yet done with the question of mods and are still discussing how we want to move forwards with things. Thank you for your time.
