| Mr.Rubinshtein | Chatting with them if possible |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | Like podcast |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | I organized that kind of events and still organize in Unreal Tournament community |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | I did trailer presentations and tournament openings |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | You can check them on my YouTube channel its linked in my discord profile |
| yarnfang | Not gonna lie, personally I'm not a big fan of competitions... BUT, I should also not be the be all end all of such decisions. Just being transparent :) |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | Yea |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | so guys what about if we think this through and do an art contest just in near time 🤔 |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | for example upcoming week |
| Herr Epsilon | Seriously though, how would we determine the boundaries of this art contest?
I think the artists on this server are all vastly different in style and medium. That would make it rather hard to judge. |
| Herr Epsilon | I would pledge for a topic that's as open as possible.
More of a "what would you do if you were presented with this task?" followed by a "wow, this is all so different", than a "follow these guidelines" and then a "let's compare our technical abilities". Sure, you could have people voting on a winner, but I wouldn't go overboard with the seriousness of this. |
| Herr Epsilon | Which is precisely why I would speak against having "checkpoints" with work in progress pictures. I guess what I'm saying is, it shouldn't be an efficiency contest, but a creativity contest. None of us (I think) are professionals. |
| yarnfang | Well, i would argue that the most valuable thing an artist can do is step out of their comfort zone and try something they don't know how to do. The theme should be a restriction and the artists job would be to find a creative solution within that restriction. |
| yarnfang | Really the biggest problem for me is how things would be judged. |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | I agree wit this whole statement ^^^ |
| yarnfang | And yes, I have been actively thinking about this :) |
| yarnfang | I want to get it rolling. |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | Since art is relative and artists task is to create art related with Asterix and Obelix franchise it doesn't matter in which style you do.Art is art and it doesn't have any boundaries. All we can do for completion to make it easier to judge is give the opportunity to community members to vote for artwork they like more. After their votes. We will pick judges who will give their point as well in addition to community votes.
Also the names or art creators would remain private till the end of voting. So that way we will reveal winner 100% sure. |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | Nobody is allowed to tell anyone that this or that artwork is his otherwise they may be disqualified. |
| yarnfang | Well, problem there is that one can usually tell who did something just by looking at it :/c |
